Tuition Refund Deadlines
It is the student's responsibility to drop a class by its refund deadline to receive financial credit or a refund for that class. The drop must be done by 5:00 PM on the stated deadline date.
Deadline dates are available on the website of the Office of the Registrar under the menu item Semester Deadline Dates. They can also be found in the semester's tuition and fee rate table (PDF) found on the Tuition and Fee Rates page.
In general, deadline dates are as follows, excluding the College of Nursing and Medical School:
- 4-week courses...the first Friday following the first day of class
- 8-week courses...the second Friday following the first day of class
- 12-week courses...the second Friday following the first day of class
- 16-week courses...the third Friday of the semester
Open Learning Courses, or courses not falling in the traditional schedules listed above, are fully refundable if dropped before 20% of the course has been completed. Do not include partial days when calculating 20% of completion. For example, 20% of an eight-day course equals 1.6 days. Therefore, the refund is calculated only if the course is dropped on or before the first day. Courses that are five days or less in duration must be dropped on or before the first day of the course to receive a full refund.
Students may not drop a course by simply not attending. It is the student's responsibility to drop or officially withdraw themselves from the University by the published deadlines. See the Financial Responsibility page for the full agreement of financial responsibility.
