It is the student's responsibility to drop a class by its refund deadline to receive financial credit or a refund for that class. The drop must be done by 5:00 PM on the stated deadline date. The exact dates for the current semester can be found in the rate table found on the Tuition and Fees page. They are also available on the website of the Office of the Registrar, under the menu item "Deadline Dates".
In general, deadline dates are as follows, excluding College of Nursing and Medical School:
- 4-week courses...the first Friday following the first day of class
- 8-week courses...the second Friday following the first day of class
- 12-week courses...the second Friday following the first day of class
- 16-week courses...the third Friday of the semester
Open Learning Courses, or courses not falling in the traditional schedules listed above, are fully refundable if dropped before 20% of the course has been completed, except for Correspondence Courses (see below). Do not include partial days when calculating 20% of completion. For example, 20% of an eight-day course equals 1.6 days. Therefore, the refund is calculated only if the course is dropped on or before the first day. Courses that are five days or less in duration must be dropped on or before the first day of the course to receive a full refund.
Correspondence Courses are fully refundable if dropped on or before the 33rd day of registration AND no lessons have been submitted. Please contact Correspondence Learning directly for additional information.
Students may not drop a course by simply not attending. As stated above, it is the student's responsibility for dropping or officially withdrawing themselves by the published deadlines.
